Uneventful flight to San Jose. Both Steve and I apprehensive about collecting the hire car and driving in CR. Steve worried about the state of the roads, my concerns were being pulled over and mugged. There is a lot written about both of these, and on top of the usual stress of driving on a different side of the road and finding one’s route out of the airport, tensions were high.
Well we needn’t have worried. We did take a couple of wrong turns but there were no villains lying in wait for us and Google maps on our phone delivered us perfectly to the door of La Cuna de Angel hotel. The road was in great condition – England take note.
The scenery changed from dry and scrubby to lush and green. Surprised how very Americanised it is.
Beautiful hotel and welcoming staff. Trying not to enjoy it too much as Drakes Bay is going to be a different kettle of fish!
