In search of the waterfall Part 1

Today we decided to follow Emillio’s suggestion and walk a trail from Drakes Bay to the Rio Claro and cross the river to the waterfall.
We set off with plenty of water and food and within minutes were accompanied by 3 dogs. They stayed with us the whole day and guarded our bags when we went for a swim. They seemed to just enjoy our company, only one showed any interest in our food.
The trail was fascinating. Beautiful flowers, exotic squawking and rustlings in trees accompanied us as we dawdled along.
Our trusty dogs seemed to know the route so we followed them blindly up a muddy path and soon realised we’d made an error. Unfortunately the trail was very slippy and both of us ended up squelching in mud and our sandals were full of clay gloop.
By the time we got back on track it was 2.30pm and  we hadn’t even reached a sign for the river so we decided to call it a day.
We stopped for a beer on the way home and noticed the clouds were gathering.
By the time we got home the heavens opened. I dressed for dinner appropriately – rolled up trousers and pink crocs. The only sensible outfit for a stormy night in drakes bay!
