Introducing The Grand Tour
The idea for the Grand Tour came about while I was thinking about travels for my bucket list.

I’ve always loved the idea of a really long road trip, heading for a particular destination but stopping at beautiful towns, scenic spots etc on the way. While “The Long Way Down” with Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman was a bit extreme, I was entranced by the adventure of it all, the highs and lows, the people they met and the places they saw.

My suggestion of a road trip through Europe, culminating in a relaxing stay in our house in Turkey was immediately seized upon by Steve. He has spent the last 6 months planning it with, I’m ashamed to say, very little input from me.

 Actually that’s been a new experience for both of us as in our previous lives, I was always the planner. Although I quite miss the excitement of looking at maps, finding the best places to visit etc, it’s allowed me to get on with other stuff and now it feels like I’m embarking on a magical mystery tour! 

Steve has provided me with a loose itinerary and our journey to Turkey and back includes visiting 18 different countries. We’re planning to take around 8 weeks, including a couple of weeks in Turkey recuperating.
