Starving by the time we ate last night. We had to wait for Rok to come round to collect the money for the apartment. He was a lovely young guy. Many of the apartments here are in old farmhouses that have been renovated and I think Rok has made himself a tidy pile by doing this.

I have to say though, that the older locals round here arent so friendly. They have a tendency to glare at us as if we’ve ruined the area – which we probably have as tourism is huge here.

We had a really good walk today. We walked around the lake and up to the castle, and then to the Vingtar gorge. The gorge was fabulous, very beautiful.

We then walked back and around the other half of the lake. By the time we got home, we’d walked 13 miles. It feels like it too!

Tomorrow’s destination is now decided after much deliberation. We had thought about staying here another day and walking in the mountains. The problem is the weather is very changeable and I don’t fancy wet and cold walking for the sake of it. So instead we are heading to the Una national park in Bosnia. It should be a lot less touristy than here but just as pretty.

Summing up Slovenia – very pretty and tranquil. Outside of Bled in the surrounding countryside it’s all meadows and farms. Similar to the Dolomite area but not as stunning. Bit unfair though as we haven’t seen the mountains. Definitely good enough to come back to.
