Woke up to pouring rain and low cloud so it was a good day to move on.
Easy journey to Bratislava. Our “apartment” (it’s just a room really) is very centrally located and we found it without any trouble. Driving into the parking area was another matter, with me pulling and pushing the metal door with all my might then finding it was electronic!
In a nutshell, unimpressed with Bratislava. The old town is tiny and is mainly shops and restaurants. There is graffiti everywhere and it has a seedy feel to it – I think it’s the sort of place that some men come to for the, ahem, nightlife. It’s also packed with tourists. We struggled to fill the afternoon as there really isn’t much to see.
We did a bit of shopping in the street our apartment is in and I felt quite uncomfortable as I kept seeing a man who seemed to be following us. Up by the station there were lots of down and outs hanging about. I wouldn’t want to be there late at night.
On the bright side, we spotted an Indian restaurant just along the road from us. It’s been ages since we’ve had spicy food!
