Here I am,blogging again, due to popular demand. (Well, three of you at least)
This time our travels take us to Australia to see Steve’s brother Ian and celebrate his 50th birthday. En route we will be visiting Hawaii and on the way back, Fiji. In the middle we will be exploring various parts of Australia and generally enjoying hanging out with Ian and Kylie.

Day 1 – Card Catastrophe
It was an uneventful but long flight to LA. We flew with American Airlines and I have previously noticed that some of the older air stewardesses have not topped up their charm school training.
Joan River’s older sister (minus the sense of humour) was serving me this time and her attitude was not exactly glowing with warmth and bonhomie. She audibly groaned when I asked for sparkling wine, accused me of being the mother of a young boy sitting on his own and snarled when I asked her what was in the ravioli. Time to hang up your stilettos dear and swap them for slippers
.we decided to stay the night in LA rather than have the stress of catching a connecting flight to Hawaii.
Our shuttle bus to the hotel drove us through some very skanky areas indeed and deposited us at the Comfort Inn, also in a skanky area.
We found a Cuban/Mexican restaurant nearby where two old black guys played the piano and percussion instruments while we dined – very nice. We dodged the hobos and walked quickly home, not an area one would go for a gentle evening stroll!
All good until We both woke up at 2am and Steve looked at his phone to find a fraudulent activity message in his email. Both our credit cards have now been cancelled – argh! Not a great start.
