Bad pennies/boomerangs

Fiji in the rain

Sanctuary of Noosa

Kept waking up throughout the night. Heard the wind howling but didn’t hear rain.
Got up at 5am to a text message from the airport saying high tides will cause the roads to be very flooded at 4am and get as close as possible to the airport. Shit!
Taxi driver was supposed to pick us up at 5.45 and hadn’t arrived by 5.50. Too nervous to wait for him, we took a taxi that was just outside the hotel. Road was very clear, the water had subsided. Thank goodness!
So many people having their plans ruined. Chatted to a lady outside the hotel who had come over for her son’s wedding. She can’t get to him and it’s looking like she’ll miss it. Two girls had paid for a 5 day trip round the islands, no go and no refund.
Still we’re all safe so really it’s just money at the end of the day.
The flight took off on time. Hurrah! Annoyingly the sun came out just as we boarded. Black sky behind it though.
All good with the flight and soon Arrived at the sanctuary of Ian and Kylie’s house in Noosa, like two bad pennies – or maybe boomerangs might be more appropriate.
We have since heard that cyclone Zena is on its way to Nadi. We definitely made the right decision to leave Fiji. I just hope the people left behind are ok.
