Steve showing how he’d look after consuming all the barbie food

imageFound the PMA difficult to come by this morning when woken at 6 am by over excited American whooping noises. I don’t know whether it was “Woohoo! I’ve been up all night and I’m such a bad ass!”or “woohoo! I’m at boot camp doing my workout!” Either way I’m not interested and shut up. Why do you think everyone needs to hear you?!
Thankfully the day, and my attitude, did improve.
Spent a lazy morning on the beach then in the afternoon had a walk around Alo Moana park and Magic Island.
As it was Sunday, lots of local families were enjoying the beach and sunshine. In Hawaii, enjoying the beach means getting the whole family together (grandma, cousins, aunties etc) pitching a gazebo, filling it with tables and chairs and having a massive cook out.
The amount of food being consumed was incredible. Huge lumps of meat on small barbies, salads, sweet potatoes, pineapple, crisps, marshmallows, lollipops – you name it they were eating it.
Music was also the order of the day. One lady had even brought a Karaoke machine with a screen, accompanied by her husband with a dj mixing desk, speakers and a generator! What amused me most was they were at least my age, and their kids rolled their eyes when mum started singing. I must put this on my list of things to do at our next family BBQ.
Further into the park, some families had even brought their own bouncy castles for the little ones. Brilliant.
Tomorrow I have planned an excursion to the other side of the island, catching local buses. Hope the weather holds.
