As we had a whole day to kill before our 10pm flight with Sri Lankan airways and all our packing etc was done, we decided to pop out and buy a new microwave. (As you do.)
While shopping, we bumped into our neighbours who commented on how relaxed we looked considering we were flying that night. We accepted the compliment graciously, feeling very much the consummate travellers.
The microwave was purchased, early dinner cooked and eaten, taxi arrived 5 minutes early. Perfect. What could possibly go wrong?
Arrived at check-in only to have that bowel loosening moment of horror when I realised I’d left my rucksack in the taxi. Now, I pride myself on being relatively unflappable but actually this is self deluding rubbish. I immediately turned into a gibbering wreck and it was only Steve’s suggestion that I ring the taxi company that stopped my gibbering and, thankfully, saved the day. One rucksack was returned 15 minutes later to a very grateful , If rather embarrassed, scatty woman.( check in staff witnessed the whole scenario with I must say great sympathy.)
The flight turned out to be hugely busy (great deal on flights, fabulous value).
Steve and I had ordered lactose free meals which arrived ahead of everyone else, making us feel very “special”. I have attached a photo of one of the lactose free meals. You get a prize of a yoghurt if you can work out what’s not quite right with it.
P.s flew over the Maldives. Amazing.
