At last my desire for a really chilled day came true.
First up, long lie-in, coffee in bed followed by breakfast and more coffee. Then a mosey into town and a detailed inspection of the shops. Very stylish boho style is the vibe here. Sadly most of the clothing was not in my size but I did manage to buy two hair bands and a fridge magnet! Last of the big spenders I am not.
Back to the house for lunch and then off to Beach Genovese which we walked to. It’s a glorious beach with hardly anyone on it. A few nudists here and there and a couple of young families but otherwise ridiculously quiet. It was hot enough for a swim and although the water wasn’t much above the 14 degrees I quoted earlier in the blog, even S managed a dip – twice.
We got home about 6.30pm and did our packing ready for tomorrow. Then it was off to find somewhere for dinner. We ended up going full circle and back to the restaurant we ate at on our first night here. I had the arroz negro which is made with squid ink. Life hack – don’t wear a white T-shirt and eat this. My tongue and finger nails are still black.
So that is it. A mini break in Cabo de Gata. It has exceeded our expectations in every way. We were very lucky with weather but there is plenty of hiking and biking to do should it be a bit cooler. I imagine in high summer it’s a place to be avoided but out of season we found it to be quiet but with enough life to have atmosphere.
I think we’ll be back.
