Woke up feeling really queasy. Think it might be the water – time to get on the bottled.
Went on a fantastic walk today. Followed the kalderimi tracks up to the hill village of Milies. Quite hard walking but picturesque. Steve had a bean soup for lunch but I had nothing as still felt ill. (Poor me!)
On the return journey, we walked along the narrow gauge train track that runs from Milies to Ano Lehonia. It was built in the 19th century but now only runs as a tourist attraction and not on Wednesdays, so we were quite safe.
On the way down, there was an extremely fast flowing mountain stream in a narrow concrete channel. I bent down to feel how cold the water was (very cold) and my sunglasses fell in! They were immediately swept away which was very annoying as with my pin head, I find it difficult to get nice sunnies that fit.
Luckily, about 500 metres downstream there was a rock in the way and Steve saw my glasses wedged by it. Hallelujah! They’re a bit scratched but wearable. Good job it wasn’t my phone 😱
The sun was shining by the time we got back so we immediately went to the pool for a swim. I happened to notice as I walked past a list of rules for the pool, one of which was swimming strictly forbidden during siesta time -3pm to 5pm. It was 3pm. I pretended not to notice and swam very quietly.
Tomorrow we’re off to Kavala to see the Filippe ruins. They’re supposed to be amazing.
After that it’s off to Turkey. Disappointingly booking.com doesn’t seem to be brilliant for Turkey and some of the prices wanted for accommodation are laughable. More research needed.
Feeling much better by the way.
