Middle-aged flash packers

Quiet day today. Packed then hung out until 1pm when our taxi took us to Uppuveli, near Trincomalee.

The taxi driver was a young man who took us to meet his brother on the way out of Anuradhapura. 

Only took us 11/2 hours to reach our destination and as we didn’t have any change, the taxi driver did very well! He also took a selfie with us. I’m going to get ideas above my station if this carries on!

We got a sweet deal for the Trinco Cinnamon- half price. Still above our usual budget but thought we’d treat ourselves as it’s got a pool and the sea might not be suitable for swimming in.

Very nice room and grounds, right on the beach. Unfortunately the service is lacking and everything is very expensive. Had a walk along the beach and found a few places that are far more reasonable to eat in thank goodness.

Had dinner at Tonic’s. The bungalows there were our second choice of accommodation. Very nice food. Our beer was served in a teapot! I’m guessing there are some licensing issues.

Lovely sitting right on the beach, listening to the waves roll in. 

Tomorrow a lazy morning, then an explore Of trincomalee town.
