Conversano – In the groove

We’ve settled in well to our new home and have got ourselves a little routine. Pool time in the morning when it’s quiet (no self respecting teenager gets up before noon), then off exploring in the afternoon, while all the adults are having their siesta.

Our first expedition was to the truli town of Alberobello. Trulies are Puglia’s equivalent of Devon’s thatched cottages. Little whitewashed houses with cone shaped roofs. Gorgeous. We meandered through the streets taking photos and buying stuff. ( Steve took photos and I bought stuff.)

Day two was a visit to the Parco Dune Costiere. Took a bit of finding as the dunes weren’t quite the size we were expecting but once found, we spent a very pleasant couple of hours on a NEARLY EMPTY BEACH. I have capitalised those words as we have been led to believe that all the beaches in Puglia are mobbed in July. Not so here, although our irresistible magnetism to Italians came into play again when we went for a swim. We were quickly joined by several people who appeared out of nowhere. The sea was a bit rough so I wonder if they were looking out for human guinea pigs. We didn’t get swept away so it was probably ok to have a dip.

Home, shower, wander into town, eat and watch the sunset.

Will probably do it all again tomorrow.

Sunset and food- a great combination
