Quite frankly I was even less prepared for this holiday than I usually am. When someone dies, there is a lot to do and the past few weeks had been very hectic. I packed a few hours before we left home for our flight, having been interrupted by a mad dash to the solicitors after having received an offer on my deceased mum and dad’s house.
Strangely, the only thing I appear to have forgotten is my head torch. (I know, most people wouldn’t consider a head torch necessary on holiday but you’ll see why later.) obviously last minute packing is the way to go.
I started reading the guide book on the plane.
I had already discovered a couple of days before that alcohol was ludicrously expensive and hard to come by, and that I would not be strutting my stuff in a bikini on the beach. Neither of these restrictions filled me with joy. However I did discover that between us Steve and I could buy 24 cans of beer and 2 litres of spirits to take into Oman. Things were looking up. They must not be on show in the car as you travel around though as you are only allowed to drive them from where you bought them to your destination. Ah, but we have many destinations, how does that work? Welcome to Oman.
